World News: Islamapobia

Islamophobia

Islamophobia is when Muslims are the victims of attacks because of their religion.
One quarter of the earth are Muslim and one in twenty of people in the UK is a Muslim.
Many terrorists have claimed that they are attacking public places because they are Muslims but the religion of Islam says nothing about killing.
Unfortunately, now some people are misled and think that all Muslims are terrorists.  There have been cases of people attacking Muslims as revenge for terrorist killings.

World news: General Election

The election

This week the UK are having a General Election on which party they think should be leading the country. By party I don’t mean like a birthday party, unfortunately it actually means a group of people who try to win the election so that they can set their rules/laws. Now this seems all boring but the country’s future depends on it.

Also whoever becomes Prime Minister becomes the owner of Larry the cat.

Abernant Residential

Year 6 Abernant School residential
We have lately been on our school residential. We went to Abernant Manor Adventure in mid-wales. The five days that we spent there felt like five fantastic months, because every day was packed full of activities. The safety and quality of the instructors was astounding, and the food was nutritious and healthy. We called the instructors after Superheroes, because they kept us safe and encouraged us to do all the activities. All the activities used different parts of the site: orienteering, which uses the 55-acre grounds; stand-up-paddle boarding, which is on the 5-acre lake; Lake Challenge, which goes above the lake and zip-wire which goes above the grounds. Kodi Bloomfield, who was on the trip, said ‘It was an amazing trip, the activities were fun, the food was amazing and the whole experience was the best!’ We also talked to Sophie Didymus who said ‘I have been on many trips like residential but this one was definitely the best!’ Libby Waters also told us that she loved it! ‘I thought that it was amazingly fun and that you could find out if you had any hidden talents. I was surprisingly good at kayaking! Also the food was delicious and the instructors were amazingly friendly and helpful. The scenery was beautiful!’ Another Year 6, Tom Hughes, said, ‘I thought that the residential was really really really brilliant! Also I loved the rooms and all of the activities.’ Max Cockerton said ‘At residential, we had a ton of independence and I really enjoyed the company of the instructors. My favourite activity was the kayaking because you could go really fast and we played lots of games!’ This will be going in the local look!

Stilton cheese rolling championships

Now cheese rolling isn’t a thing that you see normally - unless you live in the village of Stilton where they do it annually. The point is literally just to roll the cheese, which is cylinder shaped, down a perfectly flat lane. It doesn’t sound hard; I can tell you it is. The shape of the cheese means that it will not roll straight and is very hard to get down the thin lane.
