RSPCA Reggae!

The RSPCA have discovered that Reggae music helps depressed dogs and calms them down! So if you think your pooch is depressed then get them an MP3 Player, a pair of headphones and download some Reggae music and let them listen to it so you and your pooch are nice and calm! 


The Duchess of Cornwall

Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Cornwall, visited Bath on Tuesday, January 31. As patron of St John's Hospital, she visited the charity's almshouses in central Bath and explored the Southside Family Project which works with families dealing with domestic and sexual abuse and mental health problems. Her Royal Highness met organisations which are supported by St. John’s, as well as other community groups who use the facilities.

A reception for residents and supporters will be held at St John's Hospital. The Duchess last visited the city to open a Julian House charity shop in 2010.

School News: Baskervilles

School news

This week some year 5 and 6 girls have taken part in the Baskervilles gymnastic competition. There were 2 levels, the level one were people who are not doing gym anymore and level were people who are currently doing a gym competition. They did a floor routine and vault but level ones and twos did slightly different things. It was really good because the level ones who were Jasmine, Felicite, Niamh, Lauren and Kodi came first. Niamh came first individually for level one! Lauren came joint 2nd  individually.  The level two group came 2nd. In level two there were the following: Phoebe, Elly, Hattie, Lily and Daisy. Elly came 3rd individually.  Next the level 1 Bathford girls will be going to the county finals.  

Driver-less bus!

This electric powered minibus was launched on 23 January;  it can carry 6 people.  It takes people to a station and uses GPS technology. Lots of people hope that this becomes normal thing in every country.   


New Star Wars film

NEW STAR WARS FILM Disney are really loving having the rights to Star Wars. They have already revealed the name of the next film get ready for it… drum roll please…Star Wars ‘The Last Jedi’ I CAN NOT WAIT TO WATCH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

School news


This week Year 6 have been showing the class their Maya projects. They have varied from chocolate tasting to temple making. Sephy admitted that she put too many chilli seeds in her truffles. Phoebe mentioned that her chocolate tasted divine but it looked like muddy slop. Felicite explained that people put a lot of effort into their projects and she looks forward to seeing more....

KS1 School News

School news!
Reception have been celebrating Chinese New Year and have been eating Chinese food with chopsticks.  They have made some dragons out of paper and have also been making igloos!!!



Year 1 have been doing phonics and making wiggly worms out of plasticine and then measuring them!



NINTENDO SWITCH



A new console is coming out now called Nintendo Switch.  It is a touch screen, but you can change it into a console and the screen will go on the screen of your TV. EPIC!!!


School  news



Year 6 have had an exciting visitor called Emma, who is an expert in Sustainability, from Bath Spa University. Emma came in to see how much we already knew about Sustainability.  She then shared her amazing knowledge with us.  She is also working with children in Germany and California to see how environmental issues are taught there.       
      LOCAL NEWS
A large tree branch that temporarily blocked Pulteney Weir has been removed by the Environment Agency.
Just before Christmas, locals and tourists were left puzzled when the famous weir in front of Pulteney Bridge stopped flowing.

It was soon discovered that a large tree branch had become stuck under the radial gate by the south bank which usually restricts water flow so the River Avon cascades down the weir.
A team from the Environment Agency, which maintains the gate, partially opened it in an effort to remove the branch but this was unsuccessful.

Around 150 protesters sang "we love our library" as they gathered to oppose a plan to move Bath Central Library.

The demonstration on Saturday morning (January 14) outside the library's current home in The Podium featured a colourful display of banners and placards.
Library employees and volunteers were joined by parents, children and some councillors for the demonstration.

Bath and North East Somerset Council has proposed moving the current facility above Waitrose into Lewis House on Manvers Street by next year, with the space to be rented out for other means.

Monster Alligator

Monster alligator found us nature reserve


A small group of people were fortunate to see this BEAST!!!The beast was called humpback and found in Lakeland, Florida. Wildlife experts have estimated it weighs 360 kg and 15 feet long!!!! That’s really BIG!!!  


School news

Year 1 have been weather watchers and have gone outside to predict the weather.  They’ve learnt how to tell the time from o’clock to half past

Well done Year 1!


Year 2 have been learning about the Great Fire of London. They have also been acting out jobs that they would have had in the Great Fire of London!(They had to act out cleaning the toilets, which they really enjoyed!)
FUN FACT!!!
The Great Fire of London was on the 2nd of September, 1666 and started on Pudding Lane.

Year 5 are going to be sculpting clay pots. They will design their pots then create them and after that they will evaluate. Annabelle decided to torture herself by picking a tricky design to copy but is excited to start making them. We look forward to see them when they’re done.
