World News: Oscar slip up

Oscar Slip Up

And the Oscar goes to, La La land or so we thought...the actors and producers walked up and were half way through their acceptance speech only to be stopped. "Oops, wrong letter. I’m sorry but the award belongs to Moonlight." How embarrassing! But La La land did get some other Oscars. Moonlight accepted the award, but said “it is hard to feel good when you feel like you’ve stolen an award from someone.”

Chile Tomato war

In Chile the people have a tomato war. There are two teams separated by a huge boundary of, yup you guessed it tomatoes. It is started by one of the village men and the two teams start throwing tomatoes at each other. The local fire men stand and blast the people with water to try and get rid of most of the (bet you can’t guess what) TOMATOES! What, you knew (sigh).

World News : Valentine's Day

How Valentine’s day originated

Valentine's Day is thought to have originated from a Roman festival. The Romans had a festival at the start of their springtime in the middle of February. It's thought that as part of the celebrations, boys drew names of girls from a box. They'd be boyfriend and girlfriend during the festival and sometimes they'd get married (YUCK). Later on, the church decided to turn this festival into a Christian celebration and to use it to remember St Valentine too. Gradually, St Valentine's name started to be used by people to express their feelings to those they loved (GROSS).
